We’ve Never Had So Much

Aid Africa's Children rallied for the Soul Sparkles, orphans whose parents died of HIV/AIDS and are often left caring for their younger siblings. These are special holiday food parcels that should last one month for a family of three Soul Sparkles. The food parcels contain popular staple foods in South Africa, including maize meal, cooking oil, and soya mince.

There are 36 Soul Sparkles who range from 7-29 years old. They meet at Sophie’s Creche twice a month as a support group. “We’ve never had so much,” exclaimed Mama Sophie after surveying the abundance of food supplies.

Mama is the name the children have given Sophie. She is the matriarch of the Soul Sparkles and Sophie’s Creche, where her love, support and commitment to helping children sustains this community.
