From Our Hearts to Yours

Sophie’s kitchen wall outside used to offer the best relief from the sun because of the shade it provided. With brutal African heat waves, pre-schoolers can overheat quickly in the direct sun. 

With the new shade netting, teachers are no longer concerned whether the kitchen wall shadows can provide enough relief. Now, they can have school activities outdoors in a much safer health environment which includes cooler temperatures, and comfort!

The preschoolers at Sophie’s Creche prepared a special thank you for their new shade netting.

Sophie was asked, "why do the kids look like they are praying?” She explained, “in African culture folded hands speaks volumes. When they thank someone, they don’t just thank the person, but they believe that God spoke to that person to do whatever they did.  They are praising God and thanking the person at the same time. That’s us Africans, our hands and nodding our heads or going down a little on our knees is the biggest respect.”
