Where the Shade Is, the Kids Gather

Today’s narrow strip of shade comes from the kitchen at Sophie’s Creche which donors generously funded. On sunny days at Sophie’s Creche, the children naturally gather beside the kitchen wall, where the building provides one of the few shaded areas to learn and play outdoors.

It’s a simple reminder of how important shade is for young children. Soon, thanks to the new navy shade netting to be installed, they will have a much larger outdoor classroom where they can learn, play, sing and laugh together protected from the strong African sun.

Sometimes, the smallest improvements make the biggest difference in a child’s day.
